August 11: Denny Payton of the Dave Clark Five would be 67...

... he died in Dec. 2006. The DC5 were part of the "British Invasion" in the early 1960s. Payton played saxophone, harmonica, guitar and co-wrote some of the Dave Clark Five's songs.

The Dave Clark Five were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March 2008 with Payton receiving the honor posthumously. Eleven days after their induction, band-mate and DC5 lead singer, Mike Smith died.
